A Local Veteran Smiling About His Mustang

In early May, an Iraq War Veteran who is a hospice nurse practitioner contacted the YORKVET Network seeking assistance for a York County Veteran.  The veteran wished to have the convertible top replaced on his 1986 Mustang that had been sitting idle for many years.  A member of the YORKVET Network contacted the Annual Benefit Car & Bike Show Committee for assistance.

Immediately, committee member Lonny Gordon of East Coast Muscle Cars volunteered to assist. Due to the car not running and its location behind a house, Lonny asked his good friends from United Tire and Auto Repair in Red Lion to bring a rollback to pick the car up and take it to Lonny’s East Coast Muscle Cars Shop. They installed a new battery and diligently worked to get the car running along with removing the interior for cleaning, and giving the exterior a needed clean up. Next up, Lonny took the white Mustang to Statler’s Auto and Furniture Upholstery for a professional installation of the new convertible top purchased years prior. After completion, Lonny with assistance from United Tire delivered the Mustang Convertible to the smiling veteran owner.

We thank United Tire and Auto Repair, Statler’s Auto and Furniture Upholstery, and East Coast Muscle Cars. Special thanks go to our committee member, Lonny Gordon for being the catalyst in getting much more done than just installation of a convertible top. Per Lonny, seeing the veteran smile was all he needed to see to know the time and monetary contribution was all worth it.
